Tinnitus is the thought of sound in your ear or head that isn�t caused by some other source. There are many different problems that can cause tinnitus and quite often it can occur for no known reason.
Mild tinnitus is usual, affecting about one in 10 people. There are 2 types of tinnitus.
Subjective tinnitus - sounds can only be heard by you. It�s the most frequent type of tinnitus and is also usually linked to difficulties affecting your seeing and hearing (auditory) system.

This sort of tinnitus is less frequent and is usually the result of a physical problem which produces sound in or near the ear.
