Tinnitus

Tinnitus is the thought of sound in your ear or head that isnt caused by an outside source. There are many different situations that can cause tinnitus and quite often it can occur for no known cause.

Mild tinnitus is normal, affecting about one in 10 people. There are 2 types of tinnitus.

Subjective tinnitus - sounds can only be noticed by you. Its the most typical type of tinnitus and it is usually linked to issues affecting your hearing (auditory) system.

Goal tinnitus - noises can be heard by you or your GP when he or she listens using a stethoscope placed around your ear. This kind of tinnitus is less common and is usually the result of a physical problem which produces sound in or near the ear. For instance, problems with narrowing of the blood vessels.
