Tinnitus is the perception of sound in your the ears or head that isn�t caused by some other source. There are many different situations that can cause tinnitus and often it can occur for no known purpose.
Mild tinnitus is normal, affecting about one out of 10 people. There are two types of tinnitus.
Subjective tinnitus - appears to be can only be observed by you. It�s the most frequent type of tinnitus and it is usually linked to problems affecting your ability to hear (auditory) system.
Goal tinnitus - seems can be heard by you or your GP when he or she listens by way of a stethoscope placed around your ear. This particular tinnitus is less common and is usually the effect of a physical problem which produces sound in or near the ear.
