Tinnitus is the perception of sound in your ears or head that isn�t caused by a third party source. There are many different problems that can cause tinnitus and sometimes it can occur for no known reason.
Mild tinnitus is normal, affecting about one in 10 people. There are 2 types of tinnitus.
Subjective tinnitus - noises can only be observed by you. It�s the most prevalent type of tinnitus and it is usually linked to difficulties affecting your seeing and hearing (auditory) system.
Target tinnitus - appears to be can be heard by you or your GP when he or she listens using a stethoscope placed around your ear. This sort of tinnitus is more uncommon and is usually the consequence of physical problem that produces sound in or near the ear. For example, problems with narrowing of your respective blood vessels.
